BPoM 1st entry for January

The 1st entry of BPOM January is by a post by Zhiliang, coach of Wildcards, tagged by Ken. The post is about the who, what, when, where, how, why of cheerleading. The post starts of with this qoute:

"Passion is nothing if you do not give it direction".

I find this quote particularly mind stimulating for me, and in a way very true for me as well. Many times I see people full of passion for something, but they so happen not to find the suitable mentor for themselves, or instrument/vehicle to get them on the right track. Hence very often they tend to "chiong" blindly with their passion and got very lost; some may be fortunate enough to find their way back onto the path, whilst some others may get lost in the woods forever, taking their passion along with them. For me I was very fortunate. I have great mentors in cheerleading and great people who inspires me as well, and it is these people who pull me back onto the correct path time and time again.

The post by Zhiliang ends off with this paragraph I felt the most meaningful; the "why" of cheerleading:

There would be times when you're burnt out, when you wonder what is it that you're fighting so hard for. This is something we coaches cannot decide for you. You alone choose what your aim in cheerleading is. Dream big! Then work towards that dream. Remember you're never alone, help each other towards your goals and dreams, be it simply reaching a layout or bringing the local cheer scene to the next level. Know that nothing is impossible unless you believe it to be so.

This sums up what cheerleading is about. It is about goals and dreams, helping each other and teamwork. Nothing is impossible.
