Basically FitnessONE offers nutritional products and some merchandise for all fitness ethusiast. This collaboration with Wildcards entitles all FitnessONE products, featured on their website, bought through Wildcards a 5% discount.

I am really glad to see teams out there making efforts to help bring value to our cheerleading community through collaboration and venture like these. I always believe in sharing about knowledge and resources.

In the post, you can also find several recommended products which are tried and tested. To help sustain the physical stresses we put onto our body doing cheerleading, it is always recomended to take some supplements. Giving your body what it needs can help to enhance performance, recovery and prevent injuries.

BPoM 2nd entry for February

2nd post of February is by Joseph on his blog. In the post Joseph shares a rather unique and mind stimulating concept to cheerleading. It talks about the "timeline" for hitting a particular stunt or move. I shall not attempt to fully explain the theory, it is best for all of you to go check it out youselves; but in summary, it explains the importance of dedication equal ammount of time effort to hit any particular stunt or move.

A few word by Joseph himself, "We are always looking for new perspectives to approach cheerleading. The way we absorb a stunt and process it in our minds is very personal, and there isn't a one size fits all to everyone. This is just one perspective that one can approach and I hope everyone benefits from it." Everyone still has to find something that suits themselves, there is no right or wrong, as long as it helps you.

BPoM 1st entry for February

The 1st entry of BPOM February is by Jialiang from Spectrum for his post on Spectrum Blog and tagged by Wee Keat. I cannot do a proper introduction about Jialiang, but I am sure we will see each other around and may we make a proper introduction then. The post is about Spectrum's cheer camp that just ended a couple of weeks ago.

It is always a great feeling to read about cheerleaders having fun together and that is what a cheer camp is all about, the bonding and fun together. A quote from the post,"Cheerleading is a sport where teamwork is of utmost importance. The team is only as strong as the weakest link. Do not cheer for the sake of doing it. You have to be happy so as to enjoy the whole process. 台上三分钟,台下十年功."

I believe everyone heard the above quote before, but it is always worth mentioning again. Constantly remind yourself. It sums up what cheerleading is about, Be happy, work as a team and work hard.

Video of the Month January '11

Once again sorry for the wait. This month we have 7 VoM entries and this is one of the month that I really had a hard time to choose the winning entry. First of all, let's recap the 7 entries:

1. Video by Elvie Na
2. Video by Vincent tagged by Hann Bin
3. Video by Ruth
4. Video by Ruth and tagged by Ochi
5. Video by Weihan and tagged by Weicheng
6. Video by Chew Long
7. Video by Chew Long

The winner for VoM January, the first of year 2011 goes to.....

Elvie Na of KR Steppers for posting her video on their training for ATCI 2010.

I always had this thing about videos that documented the hard work, the endless trials of a team's journey before a competition; the success at the end of the day after countless failures. It is always sweet to have individual success (as a few videos showed this month), but it is always the success of the entire team that is the most meaningful to me, the common bonds that were built in the process, a memory that many shared together. This is what cheerleading is really about.

Elvie Na you won yourself $50.

Big thanks to everyone who had supported in 2010 and hope that many more will continue to support VoM in 2011. Really looking forward to even more awesome videos from everyone.

P.S: My leap of faith is rewarded.

Blog Post of the Month January '11

We have just 1 entry for BPoM January, a post by Zhiliang and tagged by Ken: Who.What.When.Where.How.

However we will not be presenting this BPoM entry the prize this month after discussion with Chaang, as this post was and old post from the archives. Chaang had decided that for this time and also in future, only new original post are eligible for entry. This is to prevent duplication and tagging of old post and most importantly to promote and encourage new posts.

Hence the prize of $50 will be carried forward to the next month, BPoM February, making the prize of the winning entry post for BPoM February $100.

So guys if you want to stand a chance to win the $100 (extra ang bao for Chinese New Year), do prepare yourself and submit your entry for BPoM February!!

BPoM 1st entry for January

The 1st entry of BPOM January is by a post by Zhiliang, coach of Wildcards, tagged by Ken. The post is about the who, what, when, where, how, why of cheerleading. The post starts of with this qoute:

"Passion is nothing if you do not give it direction".

I find this quote particularly mind stimulating for me, and in a way very true for me as well. Many times I see people full of passion for something, but they so happen not to find the suitable mentor for themselves, or instrument/vehicle to get them on the right track. Hence very often they tend to "chiong" blindly with their passion and got very lost; some may be fortunate enough to find their way back onto the path, whilst some others may get lost in the woods forever, taking their passion along with them. For me I was very fortunate. I have great mentors in cheerleading and great people who inspires me as well, and it is these people who pull me back onto the correct path time and time again.

The post by Zhiliang ends off with this paragraph I felt the most meaningful; the "why" of cheerleading:

There would be times when you're burnt out, when you wonder what is it that you're fighting so hard for. This is something we coaches cannot decide for you. You alone choose what your aim in cheerleading is. Dream big! Then work towards that dream. Remember you're never alone, help each other towards your goals and dreams, be it simply reaching a layout or bringing the local cheer scene to the next level. Know that nothing is impossible unless you believe it to be so.

This sums up what cheerleading is about. It is about goals and dreams, helping each other and teamwork. Nothing is impossible.
